Yoga for Runners
& athletes & leg day-ers & those of you who just want to move better
Rev up your running! These workshops will help improve flexibility, focus, stamina and range of motion for smoother, safer runs.
Yoga is an ideal element of cross-training - these classes in particular will emphasize alignment, engagement of the core muscles, and lengthening of the legs to support a strong, efficient stride.
We'll spend time on our hip flexors, hamstrings, quads, glutes, calves, feet, and center, to help reduce the risk of injury, complement training programs (or fun runs!), and keep you feeling fresh.
About Kathryn Gongaware
A former lacrosse player, current runner, and self-described athlete, Kathryn aims to cultivate balance between strength & length, sweat & stability, old school fundamentals & new school sequences with her music-fueled classes. Kathryn has worked alongside her teachers, mentors, actual athletes, doctors, and Chicago's own Aligned Modern Health to gain experience with injury prevention, functional movement, and active rehabilitation. She previously served on the Associate Board, and remains an active supporter, of Back on My Feet Chicago, an organization dedicated to helping those experiencing homelessness gain access to resources and build confidence through running. She is currently training for the 2018 marathon, alongside many of you.
